More Americans support foreclosure action

A majority of Americans are in favor of government creating even more closing solutions in order to keep homeowners out of foreclosure, according to a Gallup poll.

The poll indicated that 58 percent of Americans support further government actions to prevent foreclosures, while 34 percent say that the housing market should be left alone to resolve the problem naturally.

Meanwhile, the difference in opinion was found to be heavily entrenched on political lines. According to the poll 76 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of Independents support the government further expanding its role in the housing industry, while only 31 percent of Republicans share similar sentiment.

Additionally, Gallup stated that Americans who make more than $90,000 per year were more likely to oppose further government efforts to curb the foreclosure rate, while those who make less that $90,000 were more in favor.

The survey, which questioned both homeowners and non-homeowners, found that 51 percent of individuals from bother groups were concerned about home prices. However, when only homeowners were questioned, the rate was slightly higher at 57 percent.
